CIPA Compliance

Last updated: March 8, 2026

What is CIPA?

The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) requires schools and libraries receiving E-Rate discounts to implement internet safety policies and technology protection measures. CIPA addresses concerns about access to content that is obscene, contains child pornography, or is harmful to minors.

How Jaraty Supports CIPA Compliance

Jaraty tools are designed to be safe for use in CIPA-compliant school environments:

  • No external content loading: Jaraty tools do not load or display external web content, advertisements, or third-party media that could introduce inappropriate material.
  • No social features: Jaraty does not include social networking, messaging with external users, or features that could expose students to unmonitored communication with unknown individuals.
  • Educator-controlled: All Jaraty tools are designed for teacher-directed use in the classroom, maintaining educator oversight at all times.
  • No user-generated public content: Student responses in Jaraty tools (polls, word clouds, etc.) are visible only within the classroom session and are not published publicly.

Content Safety

Jaraty tools contain only educational content and functionality. There is no risk of students encountering obscene, pornographic, or harmful content through the use of Jaraty products. All content within the tools is designed and reviewed for educational appropriateness.

Filtering Compatibility

Jaraty tools are designed to work behind school content filters and firewalls. Because Jaraty does not require connections to social media platforms, advertising networks, or content delivery networks, it presents minimal filtering concerns for school IT departments.

Internet Safety Education

While Jaraty itself is a toolset and not a curriculum provider, we support schools' obligations under CIPA to educate students about appropriate online behavior, cyberbullying awareness, and interaction on social networking sites.
